Class details76 words

Class name / level: Mixed

Date: 2026-07-07

Class duration: 45 mins

Number of participants: 6 booked, room for 10

Target level: Mixed Level

Music selection (if used): none

Class goals: Full body strength class

Equipment setup: 10 reformers in 2 rows of 5, all springs on to start, footbar at highest setting

Special considerations: No one with current or previous injuries, 3 people completely new to reformer that identified themselves at the beginning of the class

WARM-UP (5–10 minutes)91 words

Class management notes for warm-up: Set Up - run through the reformer and the names of the parts for the beginners. Check foot bar height, carriage length position and strap length. Demonstrate how to adjust. I began at the top of the room and demonstrated on one reformer but moved around the whole room. Advised on spring (3 springs - two green & red) but gave option to add an extra or reduce. Reminded clients they could change springs for single leg work.
Offered some progressions (leg thread on single leg).

MAIN WORK (30–40 minutes)81 words

Class flow & transition notes: Spring changes at the beginning of each new exercise before they get into start position.
Stretch in between supine position and seated - childs pose, knee hug

Individual attention strategy: During back rowing series (high and low row) I will circulate and place my finger in between shoulder blades to encourage clients to engage as they row back. I wll also ensure clients haven't got their shoulders hunched or up near their ears during this time.

Class management notes58 words

Management notes: I used cues from the room to transition through the exercises. I also used short stretches to transition from positions on the reformer. One safety concern was that a few clients didn't have grip socks & I gave them the mesh mats for their feet. There was a positive energy in the class everyone enjoyed it.

Instructor reflection53 words

Reflection: I moved around the room well and engage well with the clients. I used lots of cueing for the clients and used tactile cueing for the new beginners. Overall, I think the class achieved the goal. I would have like to offer progressions to the clients who were familiar with the exercises.

Future planning51 words

Future class focus: For my next class I want to plan out regressions and progressions for the exercises. I had a mixed class today and wasn't expecting to have complete beginners going forward I would like to be able to offer a progression to some clients while helping the new clients.
