Class details86 words
Class name / level: Mixed Ability Group
Date: 2026-07-04
Class duration: 45 minutes
Number of participants: 5 booked, Room for 8
Target level: Improver Group
Music selection (if used): 62 BPM, Slow instrumental for warm up and cool down
Class goals: Improve Upper and Lower Body Strength & Flexibility
Equipment setup: Reformers in 2 rows, facing the mirrors and beginning with 1 red, 1 green and 1 blue spring. Footbar up to begin
Special considerations: All regular clients, 1 client has reduced mobility in her shoulder
WARM-UP (5–10 minutes)73 words
Class management notes for warm-up: I will walk through the centre of the class so everyone can hear my voice and I can correct form.
If the clients are not responding to verbal cues I will use the teacher reformer at the top of the room to provide demonstrations
I will encourage clients that are finding this easy to add a double pulse at the top of the movement for the pressing actions
MAIN WORK (30–40 minutes)207 words
Class flow & transition notes: The warm up and bridge series are performed supine and on the same spring. Then the clients will get up to change the springs for the lunge sequence for which they will stand to the left of the reformer. Next they will go back onto to the carriage kneeling against the shoulder posts to face the pulleys (They have the option to change springs here to lighter if needed). Then they will transition to the other side of the reformer to perform the lunge sequence on the other side. After this they will make their final spring change and pop the footbar back up for feet in straps.
Individual attention strategy: 1. I will be watching form for the kneeling series- making sure everyone's elbows are in line with their shoulders. I will also monitor the client with the shoulder injury to check if her springs neeed to be adjusted or if she needs to modify an exercise
2. I will be walking throughout for the bridge sequence to make sure the clients are keeping the carriage in at the stopper
3. I will use the teacher reformer at the top of the room to demonstrate the difference between squat and skater
Class management notes68 words
Management notes: The transitions worked really well for this class as I had practiced this flow previously in my teacher training hours and had ironed out any previous issues. It was a high tempo class so the energy began relaxed and picked up as the clients progressed through the sequences. The safety elements worked well and clients had ample time to adjust the foot bar and the springs
Instructor reflection70 words
Reflection: I think my cueing and hands on adjustments were effective- especially during the Kneeling bicep curl and salute action. I think I would change the spring options for feet in straps as more people than I expected found their tailbone lifting off the carriage. Yes all clients left feeling stronger and more flexible. I think I did a good job at encouraging clients and delivering precise and functional cues
Future planning43 words
Future class focus: I think in the next class I would focus on adding more small props to advance the class for clients that are more advanced so they can receive more of an appropriate challenge e.g. adding weights for the squat sequences.
